The differences between ST12 steel coil and ST16 steel coil are mainly reflected in the following aspects:
ST12 steel coil is ordinary cold-rolled steel, mainly used for bending and forming, but in principle it is not allowed to be used for stamping. Its mechanical properties are the most common and basic, and are basically the same as those of Q195, SPCC, and DC01 grades.
ST16 steel coil is an ultra-low carbon ultra-deep drawing grade cold-rolled steel with excellent stamping performance and is easy to process into various complex shapes and parts. It performs well in deep drawing and can achieve a large deformation without breaking. It is usually used in industries that require deep drawing, such as automobile manufacturing, diesel engine tanks, etc.
In the chemical composition of ST12 steel coil, the carbon (C) content is Less than or equal to 0.10%, the manganese (Mn) content is Less than or equal to 0.50%, and the phosphorus (P) and sulfur (S) contents are also relatively low.
ST16 steel coil has a lower carbon (C) content, usually Less than or equal to 0.006%, a manganese (Mn) content of Less than or equal to 0.30%, and relatively low phosphorus (P) and sulfur (S) contents. This low carbon composition gives ST16 steel coil better deep drawing performance.
ST16 steel coil has extremely good surface quality, smooth and flat with high finish, making it very attractive in appearance.
In comparison, the surface quality of ST12 steel coil may be slightly inferior, but it can still meet the surface requirements of general cold-rolled steel coil.
ST16 steel coil has good dimensional accuracy, uniform thickness, small deviation in width and length, and can meet the requirements of high-precision processing.
The dimensional accuracy and processing requirements of ST12 steel coil may be relatively low, but it can still meet the processing needs of general cold-rolled steel coil.
